Janine is the Brand and Business Development Manager for several award-winning locations of Zazou Salon and Academy located in North Vancouver, BC. Zazou’s mission is to be community focused and globally minded. Janine has a background in business, marketing and leadership and has worked in the industry for over 16 years. Janine’s core focus is on the growth of the business through hiring and creative marketing campaigns.

A key accomplishment was to become the first Carbon Neutral hair salon in Metro Vancouver. Janine is particularly passionate about sharing tools and strategies to help foster a strong culture, grow the team both personally and professionally and mentor future industry leaders.

Her knowledge comes from her own experience, continued education, various coaches over the years and attending conferences all over the world including countries such as Italy, Iceland, and Portugal. Janine believes in growing people and providing an exceptional experience for both external guests and internal guest…the team!

Her ultimate goal is to help elevate the industry and the communities she works in. By sharing best practices, Janine hopes to continue to help others grow and be the most successful version of themselves. Alicia Chowen has worked in the hair industry for 8+ years and has developed her skills and techniques for the perfect styles on any hair-type. She loves helping people embrace their natural curls and texture.

Her vast experience in the Vancouver film industry for the past 6 years has further enhanced her styling abilities, allowing her to continuously work closely with some of well known talent in the entertainment industry including: Jordin Sparks, Tawny Cypress, Christina Milian, Tina Knowles and Michelle Williams – just to name a few.

The Texture Workshops started in 2019 when Alicia saw the need for more knowledge in the hair industry when it comes to curly, coily and textured hair. Since then it has grown year after year. Alicia can’t wait to see what the future holds for the workshops

Lana began her hairstyling career in 2009 in the Ukraine studying at a Sassoon-based academy! She has been training and learning ever since, taking full advantage of each opportunity that comes her way. In her career up to this point, Lana has worked with Harper’s Bazaar Magazine for Ukrainian editorial photo shoots & fashion weeks.

She was also a part of the Toni & Guy Toronto team for 4 years before eventually settling down in Vancouver!

Samantha-Maeve is a master colourist and educator with over a decade of experience in the industry, specialising in custom colour formulations, grey blending, and dimensional blonding. As an artist with Goldwell and one of Suki’s head colour instructors, Samantha brings expert-level technique and a passion for education to every class she leads.

Beyond her technical expertise, Samantha excels at teaching stylists how to build strong client relationships based on trust and communication. In her classes, students learn how to create exceptional colour results while fostering client loyalty, helping them grow both their skillset and their business.

Tracy McArthur is a speaker, mentor, and certified business coach.

President of Business Beauty TM and founder of the Business Beauty Academy, a virtual school specialized in the business aspect for entrepreneurs in the beauty industry.

In 1988, Tracy was entrusted with the task of turning around a financially struggling beauty salon. Through the development and creation of an elaborate plan, she managed to accomplish this mission in just three months. Following this success, she was given the same challenge for several other beauty salons.

Then, in 1991, she chose to apply her skills by launching her own business in the beauty industry, which she managed as an owner for 23 years.

She is dedicated to teaching and guiding professionals in the field towards growing their businesses and becoming top-notch entrepreneurs.

Laura is a hairstylist with a passion for creativity and education with over 15 years of experience. Her journey started in a small town in Germany, where she completed her hairstyling training. She then went on to become a certified makeup artist and wigmaker. Laura’s been lucky enough to work with some amazing clients, including Netflix and with one of the world’s largest opera festivals.

Throughout her career, she’s worked in various salons in Germany and used her skills in film and theater to elevate her service in salon. In 2020, she accomplished a huge milestone and acquired her Master Stylist Certification.

In 2023 she made the move to Vancouver and joined the team at Zazou Salon & Academy. She’s spent the past two years learning and growing and loving her role as an Educator in Zazou’s Advanced Apprenticeship Academy and sharing her knowledge and passion with future talent.

JULIAN PERLINGIERO
With extensive experience as a salon owner, stylist, educator, platform artist, creative director, and principal of hairdressing academies, Julian Perlingiero has mastered nearly every facet of the hair industry. His comprehensive understanding of the craft and ability to parlay it into effective education, provides hair professionals an unparalleled learning experience.
Students who learn from him gain skills and ideas that lead to greater professional success through creatively engaging techniques.

Julian moved to Los Angeles to become the Creative Director at the Sassoon Academy, where he taught Vidal Sassoon Cutting classes to countless hairdressers and traveled the world doing trade shows. He later joined Paul Mitchell Systems, continuing with education specializing in creating collection videos and leading both men’s and women’s cutting teams.

Currently, Julian leads the Davines North America cutting team, where he teaches all aspects of cutting, including barbering, curly textures, razor cutting and geometric precision cutting.

Julian’s comprehensive understanding of the craft and his ability to translate it into effective education provide hair professionals with an unparalleled learning experience

ISABELLE LACHANCE
A creative and dynamic hair professional, Isabelle Lachance counts over three decades of experience in the industry. Her experience ranges from salon and academy owner, a gifted platform artist, and an educator with a remarkable talent for teaching.
Among her career highlights include owning five salons and three academies, earning recognition as a Canadian champion, and serving as a member of the Canada Team for Hair World, as well as a member of the international H3 team for L’Oreal Professional.

Isabelle’s passion for education is evident in each Davines course she leads, making her a sought-after and respected artist both on and off the stage.
Hair professionals who take her courses frequently praise the benefits to their professional lives and clients, as well as her ability to encourage growth in a supportive yet informative environment.

Currently, Isabelle is a member of the Davines North America cutting team, she possesses all the skills required in all aspects of haircutting, and the passion to share it with other hair lovers.

Cristina has a degree in Civil Engineering back in Philippines and currently a Professional Hairstylist at Sukis Salon in Vancouver working at downtown location specializing in precision cutting, styling and updo. Creative, personable and passionate about her craft, Cristina Tocaj has established herself as a successful stylist in Vancouver over the past 6 years.

She is Sasson trained and she has an International Certificate from Georgy Kyot for styling and updo

Cristina’s work is thoughtfully crafted and personally tailored to every client, making every visit to her chair an experience to look forward to.

Cristina is not only an exciting hairstylist, but she is also an educator at Suki’s, teaching the next generation of stylists to be their very best. Cristina believes if you have great hair, you can conquer the world.
